Exceptionally warm yet lightweight
Soft, breathable and naturally durable

Noble Wilde's signature possum merino blend combines the warmth of hollow possum fibre with the softness of fine merino wool and the strength of silk.

Possum merino combines exceptional warmth with a remarkably lightweight feel. Naturally breathable and odour resistant, it can often be aired between wears rather than washed frequently.

When washing is required, a gentle hand wash or wool cycle will help preserve the loft, softness and insulating qualities of the fibres. Always refer to the care label attached to your garment

About Noble Wilde

Made in Christchurch, Noble Wilde has spent decades refining premium possum merino knitwear. Working exclusively with natural fibres, the company creates timeless garments designed to provide comfort, warmth and longevity. Their expertise in possum merino has made them one of New Zealand's most recognised knitwear makers.

Warmth from within

Possum Merino combines fine merino wool with premium New Zealand possum fibre to create a fabric that is exceptionally warm, lightweight and soft against the skin.

The hollow structure of the possum fibre naturally traps warmth close to the body, while merino wool helps regulate temperature and allows the fabric to breathe. Naturally odour resistant and less prone to pilling, Possum Merino often requires less frequent washing than many other fibres.

When washing is required, gentle care will help maintain the softness, shape and performance of the fibre.

Care Instructions

Please refer to the care label attached to your garment. Hand wash in cool water using a wool detergent or select a gentle wool cycle where appropriate. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Gently reshape while damp and dry flat away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not tumble dry.

Women's Body Size Guide (cm)

Order by your body measurements. These are not garment measurements.

Size to order	8	10	12	14	16	18	20
Bust (cm)	80-86	86-92	92-98	98-104	104-110	110-116	116-122

How to measure

Measure yourself rather than a garment. Use a flexible tape measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing, keeping it level and snug but not tight. This knitwear is a classic fit, comfortable through the body without being tight or oversized. A few styles are cut slim or relaxed, and this is noted on the style. If you fall between two sizes, order the larger for an easier fit or the smaller for a closer one.

Bust - Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level.

For an exchange of the same value it's a straight swap. Where the values differ, we refund your card and recharge for the new item.
Clearance items have a shorter window, and seconds and a few personal hygiene products can't be returned for change of mind. Where this applies, it's noted on the product page.

Please enclose the returns form that came with your order. If you're unsure about sizing or fit before you order, get in touch and we'll help you choose.

Possum Merino Crossover Sweater

Warmth from within

Possum merino gets its exceptional warmth from the brushtail possum's hollow fibres. Tiny air pockets act as a natural layer of insulation, trapping heat close to the body without adding bulk. Blended with fine merino wool, the result is an incredibly soft fabric that delivers serious warmth in a surprisingly lightweight package.

Built to last

Unlike coarser fibres that tangle and knot with wear, possum fibres are smooth making them more resistant to pilling, allowing you to enjoy your garment season after season.

Possum Merino is a uniquely New Zealand blend combining the hollow fibre of brushtail possum fur with fine Merino wool and a touch of silk. This blend is incredibly warm, lightweight, and pill-resistant. It's also an eco-friendly choice—brushtail possums are an introduced pest in New Zealand, so using their fibre helps protect native forests.

Possum Merino is naturally pill-resistant due to the smooth, hollow structure of possum fibre. Some initial light pilling may occur in high-friction areas during the first few wears, but this typically settles quickly. Gentle hand washing and proper storage will keep your garment looking its best for years.

Hand wash gently in lukewarm water using a wool-safe detergent. Do not wring or twist. Roll in a clean towel to remove excess moisture, then reshape and lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight. Avoid tumble drying and ironing. Store folded rather than hung to maintain the garment's shape over time.

The Australian brushtail possum (not to be confused with the American opossum) was introduced to New Zealand in 1837. With no natural predators, numbers grew rapidly reaching an estimated 70 million by the 1980s. The impact on New Zealand's native environment has been significant, with possums threatening the survival of native birds, plants and insects.

Trapping and pest control programmes have helped reduce numbers, and the possum fur industry plays an important role in keeping populations in check. The use of possum fur is supported by both the New Zealand Department of Conservation and the World Wildlife Fund. Choosing possum merino is a small but meaningful contribution to that effort.

Yes. Every product page includes a size guide with detailed measurements for that specific garment, along with a how-to-measure section so you can compare against a piece you already own. Sizing can vary slightly between styles, so we recommend checking the guide for the item you're looking at rather than assuming your usual size. If you're between sizes or unsure about fit, email sales@nznature.co.nz and our team will help you find the right one.
