We ship to most countries, and we price in four currencies: New Zealand dollars, Australian dollars, British pounds and US dollars.

Your delivery address decides which currency you pay in, what prices you see and which taxes apply. If you change the delivery country at checkout, prices and taxes update to match.

This page explains how taxes, duties and customs charges may apply to your order.

Deliveries to the European Union

Because of recent changes to EU product safety rules, we're not able to ship to the European Union at the moment. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

If you'd like us to let you know when we can ship to you again, email info@nznature.co.nz.

Taxes by delivery country

  • New Zealand. Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include 15% GST. Orders delivered within New Zealand have no customs duties or import charges.
  • Australia. Prices are in Australian dollars and include 10% GST. On orders up to A$1,000, the amount you pay at checkout is the total amount payable. Orders over A$1,000 are assessed by Australian Border Force, which may charge GST, duty or other fees before delivery.
  • United Kingdom. Prices are in British pounds and include UK VAT. The UK's £135 limit is based on the value of your goods before VAT and shipping are added. Because our prices include VAT, your order can be a little over £135 at checkout and still fall under the limit.
    • Orders of £135 or less before VAT. We collect the VAT at checkout, and you won't pay anything more on delivery.
    • Orders over £135 before VAT. For these orders, UK rules say VAT must be paid when your parcel arrives in the UK. We can't collect it at checkout, and we can't pay it for you on arrival, because our delivery service to the UK doesn't offer that option.
      • To make sure you don't pay VAT twice, we take the VAT off your order at checkout, so the price you pay us is lower.
      • When your parcel arrives in the UK, the delivery provider will contact you to pay the VAT before they deliver it. They may also charge a handling fee, which is set by them, not us.
      • Your parcel won't be delivered until these charges are paid.
  • United States. Prices are in US dollars and include US tariffs and import taxes. The price you see is the price you pay. You shouldn't receive a further bill from the carrier or from US Customs. If you're asked to pay anything on delivery, please get in touch before paying and we'll look into it with the carrier.
  • All other countries. Prices are in New Zealand dollars and don't include New Zealand GST. Depending on where you are, local taxes, customs duties or processing fees may apply before delivery. These are set by your country's customs authority and are payable by the recipient. If you're unsure, we recommend checking with your local customs authority before you order.

New Zealand-made goods

Many of our products are made in New Zealand from natural fibres such as merino wool, possum merino and sheepskin. Qualifying New Zealand-made goods may get reduced or zero customs tariffs in some countries under free trade agreements.

  • Australia. Under the long-standing free trade agreement between Australia and New Zealand, qualifying New Zealand-made products generally enter Australia free of customs duty.
  • United Kingdom. Under the New Zealand–United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement, most qualifying New Zealand-made goods enter the UK free of customs duty. We include an Origin Declaration with qualifying products to show they meet the agreement's requirements.

Customs authorities or delivery providers occasionally apply charges in error. If you think you've been charged duty on a qualifying New Zealand-made product, please get in touch. We'll talk you through the documentation we've provided and help you with what you need to make a claim.

Customs declarations

Every international parcel must include customs documentation. We're legally required to declare:

  • the contents of the parcel
  • the country of origin
  • the value of the goods.

This information must be accurate for every shipment, including gift orders.

Common questions

  • Will I need to pay customs duties or import taxes? That depends on where your order is going, its value and local customs rules. Where we include taxes or tariffs in our prices or collect them at checkout, you won't pay them again. Any further charges set by customs after dispatch are payable by the recipient.
  • How will I know if charges apply? If duties, taxes or fees are payable, your local customs authority or delivery provider will contact you before delivery.
  • Can you tell me exactly what customs charges will apply? Unfortunately not. Customs rules vary between countries and can change without notice. Your local customs authority is the best source of information.
  • Can you mark my parcel as a gift to avoid duties or taxes? No. We're required to complete customs declarations accurately, and we can't alter or understate the value or nature of the goods.
  • Why does my gift order show a value on the customs declaration? Customs rules require every parcel to include an accurate declaration of the goods and their value, whether or not it's a gift.
  • I've been charged customs duty on my UK order. What should I do? If your order contains qualifying New Zealand-made products, please get in touch. We include an Origin Declaration with eligible shipments to support duty-free entry under the New Zealand–United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement. We can talk you through the documents and what you'll need when you contact the customs authority or delivery provider.
  • What happens if customs charges aren't paid? If a parcel is refused or returned because duties, taxes or fees haven't been paid, any return shipping costs, customs charges or carrier fees may be deducted from an eligible refund.
  • When will you ship to the European Union again? We don't have a date yet. We'll update this page as soon as we know more.
